March raises awareness

Windsor residents are tired of drug dealers in the area.

Drug campaigns in Windsor have been sharpened up since Gauteng Provincial Commissioner General Mzwandile Petros had a meeting with the public early in June.

Concerned residents gathered at the Windsor East Recreation Centre to take part in a march against drugs.

Sharon Peters of Olivetree Ministries said, “We have to stand united against drugs and warn residents of the dangers. The purpose of the march was to raise awareness of drugs in our area.”

Acting Ward 98 councillor Graham de Kock said, “I felt fairly positive about the drug march, the number of residents that pitched up was a bit disappointing. The battle against drugs is an ongoing thing and residents in Windsor need to continue with the campaigns against drugs.

“I want to thank the Johannesburg Metro police officers who followed us in their vehicles and made the group feel safer while marching through the streets in Windsor East.”

Resident Mandy Herbert said, “The bright outfits of the people taking part in the march was stunning and drew a lot of attention.”
