Two police mentors retire

RANDBURG - Randburg Police hosted a farewell party for two of its senior members

Randburg Police hosted a farewell function for two of their senior members.

Spokesperson Warrant Officer Johannes Maja said, “The members were Major Thembelani Livingstone Solani and Major Chapese Lucas Khobane.

“Solani is leaving the police due to health conditions after serving 40 years of service. He started his career in Bisho in the Eastern Cape and served on different components before he was transferred to Johannesburg.”

Solani went through the ranks until he was promoted to Major from Sandton Police Station to Randburg. He received commendations for faithful service for twenty years and a ten years commemoration medal. “Khobane joined the police in 1973 and started his career in Alexandra police station. He was serving in the community service centre.

He ended his career off as a shift commander with commendations for faithful service and a seventy fifth anniversary commemorative medal.” Khobane was described by his subordinates as a hard working, dedicated person.

Station commander Brigadier Lettie Hugo said, “I want to applaud the officers for their loyal hard work, dedication and their willingness to work in any circumstance. They will be missed by the community of Randburg which they served with pride and dignity.”
