BRYANSTON – The Randburg Rotary Club has the pleasure of introducing their new president Clive Smedmor.

The Randburg Rotary Club held their annual Presidential Inauguration dinner on 4 July at the Bryanston Sports Club.

Before handing over the reins, one of the founding members of the club and past president Ivan Quarmby gave a brief history of the club. Quarmby explained, “27 years ago our club started Reach for a Dream which is of course for youngsters who are faced with life threatening illnesses. The Reach for a Dream Foundation fulfills 1500 dreams each year.

“Then there was the Refilwe Community Project, this was started in 1991 as the Christian Clinic and today it is a complete village. Last year we handed over an industrial kitchen at a cost of one million bucks and recently provided Refilwe with a bus. We have also just handed over a borehole and related equipment, valued at R850 000.

“Funding for these projects have been from our club, our Canadian partners and the Rotary foundation.”

This was followed by the inauguration of the incoming Rotary president, Clive Smedor who will be taking over from past president Andrew Robinson.

Exchange student Pedro Perez from Brazil and Tyler Smedor both received an award for their input and spoke about the importance of education. Last but not least, Betty Agustoni was inaugurated for the third time as Rotary Anns’ president.

The evening was closed off with the recital of the Rotary Four-Way-Test and International toast.
