DA leader casts his vote at Allen Glen
ALLEN’S NEK – DA leader, Mmusi Maimane stands in queue alongside fans to cast his vote in the 2016 Municipal Elections.
The voting station at Allen Glen High School differed today from other stations as a very special voter came to cast his vote. DA leader, Mmusi Maimane came to his alma mater with his wife, Natalie Maimane.
Maimane stood in the queue from the early morning. “I almost forgot my ID. I voted with the same ID since first voting in 1999,” joked Maimane. He said that he thinks it will be a historic election and once again urged South Africans to come and vote for change. “This is our most powerful weapon, our democracy and the right to vote.” He joked that now he lost his place in the queue.
Maimane was more than happy to take photos with voters who stood in the queue and also was not shy to start conversations. Maimane reached the ballot box after about half an hour in the queue. “It’s no secret who I am voting for,” said Maimane has he turned to cast his vote. He thanked everyone who volunteered at the station for their hard work.
As Maimane place his vote in the ballot box he said that everyone in the country is feeling the winds of change and that he is confident of how the voting will go today.
