Not your average clown, not an average show

MONTECASINO – The spectacular Slava's Snowshow is set to show at the Teatro from 26 July.

This is not your typical clown, the show is not even a circus.

Slava’s Snowshow is rather described as ‘a mesmerising journey into your childhood – sparkling with your dreams, covered by a snowy blanket yet filled with anticipation and more dreams. To a world of bright colours, true feelings and interactive fun where you’ll see your own story as you experience the award-winning international stage sensation,’ by its creator, Slava Polunin.

“I don’t really like the word ‘clown’. Today it’s associated with kid’s parties and entertainment. A clown, I believe is truly a philosopher.”

Slava’s Snowshow, a two decade running international stage show, opens in South Africa for the first time, at Montecasino‘s  Teatro on 26 July. The Russian-born master clown will make a special appearance in the audience on this night.

Tony Feldman, director of Showtime Management who brought the show to South Africa said that Slava however, no longer performs in the show.

“He [also] seldom travels with the show so we feel privileged that this iconic entertainer is joining us to watch the opening performances in Johannesburg. We look forward to welcoming Slava and The Snowshow to South Africa for the first time and to introduce them to our audiences and likewise our audiences to them.”

At the media event on 14 June TV, radio and theatre personalities joined in awe of the unique theatrical creation. Casper de Vries, Hildegardt Whites and Leon Cloete were among those who returned to their childhood on the Montecasino’s Teatro stage, breaking out in pillow fights, playing charades and laughing their hearts out. This was a taste of what The Snowshow planned to offer South African audiences.

The highly acclaimed tragi-comedy is for adults and children over eight years with shows everyday, except Mondays, until 14 August. Bookings are open for the show and tickets can be bought online through Computicket or by calling 0861 915 8000.
