High tea and high praise for nurses

NORTH RIDING –A high tea is used to celebrate the nurses at Netcare Olivedale Clinic.

The Netcare Olivedale Hospital nursing services unit managers were celebrated with delightful treats and sweets at a high tea for International Nurses day.

The unit managers gathered at the beautifully decorated table on 12 May. The theme of the day was ‘A Force for Change; Improving Health System’s resilience’. International Nurses Day is celebrated on Florence Nightingale’s birthday.

Nurses Day is an occasion to honour the work nurses do, and to recognise their contributions, commitment and the significant role they play in caring for patients. Nurses dispense knowledge, comfort, compassion and care with or without the prescription to do so, on a daily basis.

Their world is challenging – they have to reach new levels of competency as the demand for more complex nursing care increases.

This year’s theme is very important as every decision nurses make in their practice has an impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire healthcare system – a healthcare system that is dynamic and fast paced.

Netcare Olivedale Hospital general manger, Bets Welman said, “There is no doubt – nurses are the heartbeat of Healthcare. Thank you for being our nurses and making a difference in our lives.”

She added, “Enjoy the day and live our Netcare theme: Life won’t sparkle unless you do.”
