Faulty traffic light leaves three injured on Malibongwe

SHARONLEA – Man placed on life support and rushed to the hospital after serious head injuries.

A faulty traffic light played a role in a car accident on Malibongwe and President Fouché drives in Sharonlea on 2 February.

At 5pm Emer-G-Med services responded to reports of a serious collision. On arrival, the paramedics found that a Citi Golf had been T-boned by a taxi with massive force, leaving major damage and three people injured.

The passenger of the car was in a critical condition, sustaining serious head and facial trauma. Advanced life support interventions were performed to stabilise the critically injured man. He was placed on life support and rushed to a nearby hospital for specialist care.

The other two patients sustained minor to moderate injuries and were transported to various hospitals for further assistance.

“JMPD was on scene to investigate the exact events leading up to the collision,” said Emer-G-Med spokesperson Max Cohen.
