The legend Rodriguez

NORTH RIDING– Fans young and old evoked the spirit of the legendary Rodriguez.

The ears and hearts of all the excited fans were blown away by the soulful, talented Rodriguez at the Ticket Pro Dome on 27 January.

The legend that is Rodriguez came back to his home, South Africa, for yet another entertaining concert.

The opening act, Alice Phoebe Lou was nothing but outstanding. Her self-confessed ‘melancholy’ songs played to the heart strings of incredibly captive ears. Lou left South Africa when she was only 18-years-old to explore Europe. It was here that she discovered her sheer love for street performance. Her simple demure does not match her powerful vocals, accompanied by only her guitar, Lou was the perfect fit for an opening act to the legend.

In an age where most performers sound completely different live than in their recordings, Rodriguez was a fresh breeze from the past. A past, which encompassed visionaries that could completely captivate a crowd on and off the stage with wholesome and genuine vocals.

Rodriguez the singer/songwriter performed favourites such as Sugar Man, Wonder and Crucified. The simple production gave way to allow for a standing ovation and encore cheers from his fans here at home.

A Night with Rodriguez at the Ticket Pro Dome will continue on 29 January after which the tour will move on to Durban.
