BLAIRGOWRIE – Voice2Act puts on another incredible showcase.

The sixth Voice2Act annual 2015 showcase was business as usual on 28 November.

Voice2Act, founded by Penny Bramwell-Jones is a voice and acting training academy based in Blairgowrie.

The showcase entitled Business as usual…? was written by Bramwell-Jones and business partner Lynda Bomyer with the assistance of Taryn Thomas and the scripting was created through a “workshop” process by the talented cast of 2015.

Bramwell-Jones said, “This year we have been exploring real people not people pretending to be interesting people. This year I wanted to do an original play because let’s face it, we are an interesting nation and there’s lots to talk about!

“I wanted to cover the impact of social media as well as all the ‘isms’ we face on a daily basis in the form of racism, sexism, nepotism, materialism, culturalism and xenophobism. There is a lot to be said about the issues within these ‘isms’. It’s current, ballsy and quite frankly necessary to talk about. Theatre is the only place you can tell the truth about life.”

This powerful play was inspired by the Meisner technique which has been the main technique taught this year. The talented cast quickly grasped the principals of this technique and put on an incredible show. The cast included Bernice Martin, Sizwe Seleka, Kitu Makgofa,Mercia Walters, Catherine Black, Buhle Bembe, Krishna Ramlall, Kirsten Vagle and Rory Stradling.

Sizwe Seleka’s stellar performance saw him win the best actor award while Catherine Black was awarded as best supporting actress.

Bramwell-Jones believes that Voice2act is a platform to express yourself authentically – opening the portal to self-confidence through truth.

Bomyer has come up with ideas for six more episodes of “Business as usual..?” to continue the story line and they plan on producing these for the Voice2act YouTube channel in 2016.
