GALLERY: Who’s the man among all men?

The Old Spice 48 hours Mano-e-Mano Challenge held at Cresta Shopping Centre on 20 to 22 November had two local celebrities go head to head to find a victor.

The challenge that spanned two days, saw celebrities Tol Ass Mo and Nicholas Goliath, each given three team members and then placed in a glass box within the shopping centre with bemused shoppers looking at them with intrigue.

“It was so weird being in here, and have people look at me the whole time, probably even while I was sleeping,” said Goliath.

Team members were chosen through a competition held on radio.

For the challenge, Old Spice put in place a series of tasks that would culminate in one team being victorious.

Katekani Baloyi, associate brand manager at Old Spice said the two days were very exciting.

“The guys had loads of fun,” said Baloyi. “The point of the challenge was to show that Old Spice would last for 48hours.”

Baloyi further explained how the challenge exceeded his expectations.

“The guys were all really invested in the challenge, it was great to see,” said Baloyi.

Tol Ass Mo, said that he would definitely do the challenge again if he could.

“The challenges were interesting, we had one challenge where we were blindfolded and we had to pick boxes at random and eat its contents. These included blue cheese and I absolutely hate blue cheese – it smells nasty,” said Mo.

Nicholas Goliath’s team (Team White) was seen as the team to win after Saturday’s challenges saw them come out on top, but Mo’s team (Team Red) were not planning on leaving as the losers and on the final day of challenges they rallied to win a weekend away in true underdog fashion.

Goliath said that for him, it was super interesting.

“It was also intimidating, because you are put in a confined space with nine other people you don’t know and are told to interact with them, luckily these guys were all great, we just all got along,” said Goliath.

In the end, Team Red won, to sounds of loud cheering from the crowd to show their support in their win. The winners walked away with the title of being the men among all men and a manly weekend away together.
