MULDERSDRIFT – Parlotones say goodbye to the year with their last Joburg performance at Muldersdrift.

The Parlotones performed for the last time in Johannesburg for the year at Heia Safari Ranch in Muldersdrift on 22 November .

Trevor Rebello and his band opened for the concert, followed by Gangs of Ballet, and the Parlotones ended the day with their award-winning performance – much to the delight of the crowd.

Concertgoers waited for the Parlotones while sipping wine under the shady trees with the backdrop of nature all around them.

New owner of Heia Safari Ranch Andy Dott said that the ranch was the perfect place to host the concert because it had a scenic view and a unique natural setting.

“We have the biggest man-made rock structure and we are a conservancy where we have free range game such as wildebees, zebra and springbok. Our dam called Lake Heritage was built over 60 years ago,” he proudly stated.

Dott explained that he has experience in the tourism industry and that he hoped that the concert became an annual event where his neighbours, their friends and the public could come together to enjoy themselves.

“We picked the Parlotones because everybody knows them and enjoys their music,” he added.

Dott said that the ranch was perfect for this event because the crowd could take boat rides on the river or swim while the bands were playing.

Lead singer from Gangs of Ballet Brad Klynsmith said that they had enjoyed playing at Heia Safari Ranch. “The Joburg crowd is awesome and they always support us when we play and the Ranch has spectacular views,” he said. He added that it was a great performance despite the blazing heat.

Bass guitarist and back-up vocalist for the Parlotones, Glen Hodgson said he hopes the concert becomes an anual event because they enjoyed playing at the Ranch against the backdrop of Lake Heritage.”It really is always a pleasure to play in spaces like these, it’s beautiful and we hope to come back again,” Hodgson said.

The Parlotones are heading to the coast where they have been booked to play over the festive season.

He added that with the band’s hectic schedule, they would miss their homes and family from Bromhof over the next month but that they would be back soon performing in their favourite city.

The band performed a variety of their hit songs and had the crowd singing along.
