GALLERY and VIDEO: Danceweb studios shine in Italy

BRYANSTON – Young dancers from Danceweb Studios have come back with certificates, trophies and happy hearts after dancing at the World dance championship in Italy.

Danceweb Studios in Bryanston recently sent 55 dancers to compete at the The Street Dance World Championships held in Rimini, Italy, from 21 to 25 October.

The dancers competed against 32 other countries and South Africa had a representation of 250 dancers who brought home gold, bronze and silver medals.

Owner of Danceweb Studios Mandy Bullock said that she was proud of her team’s performance as they danced their hearts out.

“It is not easy to qualify for this competition as there are different qualification trials that the dancers had to go through and they worked very hard throughout the competition,” she said.

Bullock said that she opened up her dance studio because she had a passion for dance which she inherited from her parents.

“For our dancers to go so far is a privilege because they competed on a world stage,” she added. She said that her dancers partook in the hip-hop, locking, popping, house and contemporary divisions. She mentioned that her dance team competed against countries such as China and Russia. She said that the dancers who entered the competition had to work very hard as they had to dance six times to reach the finals.

“I want to thank my team of dedicated coaches because it is through their hard work and dedication that we got this far. I have some amazing coaches who are award winners,” she boasted.
