Musical thriller, Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street is being shown at Montecasino on 9 October – 29 November.

The chilling play consisting of an all-star South African cast is set to make your escape into the dark streets of London a suspenseful one to remember.

The musical tells the story of a demon barber who vastly killed his clients in his barber chair, after which his eccentric nieghbour, Mrs Lovett turns the dead bodies into meaty pies for her unwitting customers.

This 19th century set play, will not only grip you with its theatrical story line, but also with its deep core of revenge.

The superb screenplay will have you on the edge of your seats with its spicy dark humour that is sure to make your evening a saucy one.

Though this play might be a great way to spend your night out, it probably will not appeal to all audiences. Some of its dark sarcastic humour could be missed by your slapstick comedy fans. It’s definitely not for the skirmish, there is not too much blood and guts but there is slitting of throats that could leave younger audiences with sleepless nights.

The actors are brilliant, you quite honestly feel transported to this ruinous, twisted time. The standouts were Jonathan Roxmouth (Sweeney Todd) and his outlandish partner in crime, Charon Williams-Ros (Mrs Lovett).

Their stage presence are enigmatic and will have you spellbound with their powerful stage presence.

Albeit, let the writer not forget about the very infectious singing. The cast left nothing to chance when it came to entertaining the audience with their compelling songs.

Sweeney Todd: The demon barber of Fleet Street by American composer and lyricist, Stephen Sondheim is a must see.
