Models love New York

RANDPARK RIDGE – Models for Figures Models Randburg shop, learn and make contacts while modelling in the USA.

Six models from Figures Models Randburg, Randpark Ridge, had a great time at the recent International Modelling and Talent Association (IMTA) in New York.

They learned many things about modelling, and Saskia Wagner (16) of Honeydew was one of the top achievers at the event which took place between 20 and 24 July.

Only agents from the world’s most prestigious fashion and entertainment agencies are permitted to scout for talent at the annual IMTA,(see previous report) and Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel and Katie Holmes were first recognised at the event.

Wagner participated in a category with 174 other models and was awarded the Commercial Model of the Year, first place in jeans and swimwear, and second place in make-up, fashion print and runway.

She received 44 call backs from agents and her modelling career will likely take off soon.

The other models who participated for Figures Models Randburg were Jamie Fermor (17), Boudine Curling (18) for modelling and acting, Robyn-Angela (23) for songwriting, singing and modelling, Rochelle Curling (17) and Claudia Borlond (8).

“Overall, it was fantastic,” said Merlene Spies owner of Figures Models Randburg.

“They learned things they could never learn in South Africa.”

She was ecstatic at Wagner receiving so many awards.

“You get an overwhelming feeling when one of your own students win out of so many contestants.”

Fermor said that the trip was surreal, the group shopped every night save for one and she wanted to go back to New York.

Robyn-Angela, who has opened for Prime Circle before, was a finalist among the song writers.

She said that she had met a number of owners of successful record labels who complimented her song-writing style, and said they would follow her career.
