King’s school pre-primary celebrates Heritage Day with a play and a braai
Pre-primary school learners were taught about different cultures and traditions at Kings School heritage celebration.
King’s School Robin Hills was filled with excitement as the colourful looking pre-primary learners enjoyed a sunny day out dancing and showing off their different traditional attires.

Alison Sigerson, the principal of the pre-primary school, explained that they have the celebration every year and they encourage celebration of the cultures.

“We make a nice braai, and the kids bring delicious South African made treats like sweets and snacks to share. We pray for the country and our leaders and the little one’s dance, and we celebrate.”
They also had a play, and learned about the country and the life of Nelson Mandela. Sigerson said that it’s important for the learners to know about heritage because there is a lot going in the country at the moment.
“We just had elections and there is a lot of positivity going on, and we have come a long way and we need to keep going, and keep flying the flag. We try to also teach the kids about different cultures and languages. Today they came dressed up in different attires, and they get to do a show, and tell us all why they love it [their culture]. We also played different music and prayed in different languages.”
