Traffic disruptions expected around Ellis Park for rugby showdown
With the highly anticipated match between the Springboks and All Blacks on the horizon, motorists are cautioned to plan ahead for road closures surrounding Emirates Airline Park.
As rugby fans gear up for the thrilling contest between South Africa’s Springboks and New Zealand’s All Blacks, significant traffic disruptions are set to impact Johannesburg. Starting from August 30, at 22:00 through August 31, at 22:00, multiple road closures will occur around Emirates Airline Park (Ellis Park Stadium).

Rea Vaya bus service information
The City of Johannesburg’s Rea Vaya Bus Rapid Transit system will offer regular service on match day. Key features include:
1. Trunk (T1) Service connecting Thokoza Park Rea Vaya station to Emerald Airlink Park (Ellis Park Stadium) from 05:00 to 19:00.
2. Complimentary (C1) Service running from Dobsonville Integrated Public Transport Interchange to the corner of Voorhout & Princess Streets in Doornfontein from 05:00 to 19:00.
3. Both T1 and C1 services will conveniently pick up and drop off patrons at Ellis Park East Rea Vaya Station and at the corner of Voorhout and Princess Streets.
4. Expect a frequency of roughly 15 minutes for both services from 09:00 until the final bus leaves at 19:00.
5. A R30.00 single trip card will be available for purchase at any Rea Vaya station, alongside standard distance-based smart cards.
6. A dedicated Rea Vaya representative will be present at the Venue Operations Centre during the event.
7. BRT-exclusive lanes will be in effect, prohibiting other public transport from using them.
