Residents are frustrated as they enter day four without water.

Johannesburg Water has been working to repair a 600mm steel pipe that burst at the corner of Republic Road and Malibongwe Drive since August 19.

“The team is experiencing challenges due to the massive volume of water that is still coming out of the pipelines, even though the incoming supply has been closed,” said Johannesburg Water in a statement on August 21.

“It is not possible to begin repairs until the water in the pipelines has been drained completely.”

Affected areas include Ferndale, parts of Windsor, Strijdom Park, Kensington B, parts of Randburg, parts of Bryanston, Moret, and parts of Blairgowrie and Bordeaux.

Residents took to social media to express their frustrations:

Residents are encouraged to visit Johannesburg Water’s website, www.johannesburgwater.co.za and select the SMS notification services for alerts on planned and unplanned services. More information can be obtained on X: @JHBWater, and Facebook: Johannesburg Water.
