Oxford Pre-School celebrates Mother’s Day in style

Lynett Nyathi said that when other kids saw their mothers, they started to cry for them, that was another challenge, but they managed to calm the kids down so that they could have fun.

Ferndale-based Oxford Pre-School held a Mother’s Day event in celebration of the learners’ moms. The little ones were given a platform and a chance to sing and dance for their mothers.

The mothers also got involved in dances and doing a fun fashion show for the kids. They also competed in the mini-Olympics fun run where the mothers ran with their kids on their backs.

Teacher Lynett Nyathi explained that the event was aimed at showing appreciation to the mothers.

“It was important for parents to see their kids’ skills and how much they love and appreciate their mothers. It was really special; it showed their worth. Since we never hosted mommies we thought it’s a good idea to host them this time around.”

She added that the event was a success, and parents were very happy. “Sixteen parents took their time to come and celebrate with us, though some parents didn’t come because they were held up at work. Time was the challenge we faced as most of the parents were not on time because of traffic, we ended up starting late but we managed to get everything together as a team.”

The event also helped the mothers to interact with themselves and get to know each other.

“It was very special, because every mom had a smile on her face, and they really enjoyed modelling and dancing for their children.”
