Kazuno Judo held a special send-off for its members going to represent South Africa at the Commonwealth Judo Championships.
Summerfields Shopping Centre and Panteli’s Italian Kitchen treated the 11 judokas to lunch, and the centre gave them high-quality kit bags they will be able to use for years to come.
“We are very grateful for this and must extend our thanks to the centre and Panteli’s,” said sensei Allerdyce Fulton. “A lot of these guys are very good and are doing well lately. We are aiming for gold.”
Fulton and Andrew Coucourakis-Vermaak won gold medals at the National Judo Championships in Gqeberha earlier in July. The Commonwealths will also be held in Gqeberha in August.
Kazuno’s judoka will mostly compete in age groups from U13 to U21 level, and Fulton will also lead the national team.
The centre’s marketing manager Tanya-Lisa Elston wished the group luck and told them to have fun.
