Seren House learners shine at Olympiad

Learners from the school in Malanshof finish top in maths at last year's event.

The results for last year’s Conquesta Olympiads are out and Seren House Cottage School can boast excellent results.
Furthermore, the Grade 6 and 7 classes from the school in Malanshof managed to place first in the country in the maths test.

The school also placed in the top 20 schools overall.

Seren House intermediate maths teacher Haseena Vally aims to build her learners’ confidence with kindness and patience.

All four grades at the Middle Campus (grades 4–7) participated in the Conquesta Maths Olympiad, with grades 4 and 5 coming in fifth and second place, respectively.

This is the third year that the Middle Campus participated in the maths event, and their performance has improved dramatically each year. Last year, the school scored an average of 86%, with many of the learners achieving a platinum rank, which is the highest rank in the Conquesta.

“Congratulations go to the top achievers in the four grades,” said founder and principal Dr Eirwen Oswald.

“This remarkable achievement is primarily due to the incredible work and passion for mathematics of Haseena Vally, the Middle Campus school’s mathematics teacher. Her love, dedication, and belief in her learners shine through not only in the Conquesta Maths Olympiad but also in the everyday business of learning mathematics.”

Vally will start preparing her learners for the 2023 Conquesta in the third term.

“We are so proud of all our students for taking the challenge and doing themselves proud,” Oswald continued. “The real joy comes from the fact that we do not pressure our children to do anything but their best. They do not have to do any homework, and we do everything with love, not with the anxiety-making competitive spirit that is not good for children.”

She said Seren House was a unique school that believed in nurturing the whole child. The school’s focus on love, kindness, and compassion, as well as its commitment to academic excellence, has created a thriving learning environment where learners can reach their full potential.

Recently the school celebrated its fifth anniversary.
