The King’s School Robin Hills host a successful preseason showdown

Thando Zulu said that the sports festival revealed their teams' strengths and weaknesses and they will play more games to prepare for the winter season.

Soccer balls found their way to the back of net while netballs made nets swoosh at the King’s School Robin Hills when it hosted its annual sports festival.

Parents, teachers and learners enjoyed a fun, sunny day with good music and food.

Head of sport Lynne du Plessis said the festival was aimed at giving the players exposure and getting them ready for the winter season.

”We played friendly games. On the netballs side, we wanted to see if the girls were ok in their positions and also to see the competition we have out there.”

The King’s School West Rand, Greenside High School and Deutsche International Schule battled it out on the netball courts while The King’s School Linbro Park, Curro Wilgeheuwel and Alma Mater International School went head-to-head on the soccer field.

First-team soccer coach Thando Zulu said that they are grateful to the schools that visited and their objective was to get the kids ready for the coming league.

The schools will compete in the Independent Schools Soccer League (ISSL) and the Johannesburg Primary Schools Football Association (JPSFA) in term two.
