Many matric learners don’t balance their time and personal development – St Stithians matriculant

Whole development is important at schools, says triple honours matriculant.

St Stithians College triple honours matriculant, Michael Zietsman comments:

My father, Brandon, matriculated here in 1988 so it has been great to continue the family tradition and follow in his footsteps.

There are a number of challenges I have seen young people face in their matric year, and also the year after as they look at making their way in the world.

To get into the working world after school you will need to go on to study or have five or six As in Matric because the standards are so high at the moment.

And unless you are goal-driven and hard-working you will still struggle in the workplace.

So, while at school a lot of people misbalance.

They over-commit to academics because they have to try so hard, but they have no personal development.

Sports and culture are not as well promoted by some parents and schools, but that is where a lot of personal development happens.

For me finding a balance and confidence in yourself, rather than becoming over-anxious and burning out, is most important.
