Randburg Football Club hosted the Under 15 and 17 Friendship Cup at the Randburg Sports Complex

U15 and U17 players from the Randburg Association Football Club (RAFC), Kaizer Chiefs Football Club, SuperSport United Football Club, Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club, Highlands Park Football Club, Panorama Football Club, Evo United Football Club, and Transition Football Club played against each other in the inaugural RAFC 2022 Friendship Cup.

Junior footballers from various football clubs gathered at the Randburg Sports Complex for one of the biggest-off season tournaments in Gauteng over the weekend.

U15 and U17 players from the Randburg Association Football Club (RAFC), Kaizer Chiefs Football Club, SuperSport United Football Club, Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club, Highlands Park Football Club, Panorama Football Club, Evo United Football Club, and Transition Football Club played against each other in the inaugural RAFC 2022 Friendship Cup.

Brian Berry, Randburg Football Club manager said, “The tournament was a massive success, and the turnout was outstanding, and it exceeded our own expectations.”

Highlands Park FC was announced as the winner of the U15 division and Mamelodi Sundowns FC was announced as the winner of the U17 division of the inaugural tournament. Players that stood out amongst their peers were rewarded. These players include; Matala Makhubo from the U17 Kaizer Chiefs FC who was named Player of the Tournament, Lehlogonolo Mohlabine from the U17 Mamelodi Sundowns FC awarded Goalkeeper of the Tournament, Tashiel Rugunanan from the U15 Kaizer Chiefs FC awarded Player of the Tournament, Zac Modlin from the U15 Highlands Park FC awarded Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

Randburg Association Football Club will host trials for their Gauteng Development League teams.

They have announced the trial dates for its 2023 Gauteng Development League (GDL) teams.

Matala Makhubo from Kaizer Chiefs FC U17 was named Player of the Tournament by Andre Arendse.

Trials will take place on November 26 and November 27 at the Randburg Sports Complex.

Brian Berry Randburg Football Club manager said that they expect a good turnout and some new quality players to add to their 2023 team.

“We encourage young footballers to come as Randburg FC is one of the best platforms for football development in the country,” added Berry.

Trial times for November 26:

  • U12 players – 11:
  • U14/U15 players – 13:30

Trial times for November 27:

  • U13 players – 08:
  • U16/U17 players – 11:
  • U19 players – 13:30

Non-Randburg Football Club players will have to pay an administration fee of R100.
