Darrenwood Sports Club hosts fundraiser for charity

Tennis players enjoy a delicious potjiekos meal and raise R15 000 for a good cause.

A fundraising tennis tournament held at Darrenwood Sports Club was a great success, seeing 40 people play and 60 stay for dinner, raising R15 000 for charity.

Many prizes were also donated for the fundraiser, in an effort to help The Breathing Life Foundation – a non-profit organisation that acts as a safe house for survivors of human trafficking, and also helps them reintegrate into society.

Everyone enjoys a break during the tennis fundraising tournament.

The organisation also offers a support group once the integration process has taken place. There are also job opportunities for these survivors, provided by small businesses that partner with The Breathing Life Foundation.

Darrenwood Sports Club chairperson and club captain Neil van Loggerenberg thanked the community for their contributions and ‘those who donated prizes totalling over R12 000 to make the event super exciting.

Back: Etienne Linford and Jacques Clack. Front: Danita De Wet, Martin De Wet, Jacques Heffer, Russel Stephens and Robert Durkin.

“Our main sponsors were QOT solutions, Resistile, Valley Security, Plumbing Beat and Ibis river retreat.”

Five pots of delicious potjie food was also donated, and enjoyed by all.
