Author describes how she grew in confidence to put her work out there for all to see.

Local author, Mel Goven was celebrated at Olivedale Library during the official launch of her first novel, Unfinished.

The Olivedale resident first published the book digitally in July, but hardcopies have now reached South African shores and this was cause for celebration with friends, family, and avid readers.

The story is based in South Africa, of a cold case that received a second chance after a character’s heart transplant.

It is a murder mystery thriller that has romance, unexpected twists, and turns more treacherous than a Chapman’s Peak drive on a stormy night.

“I used to be very shy and nervous and when I started writing stories down in 2010 I only trusted my close friends to see,” Goven told a large group of family, friends and avid readers.

“Now I am happy to launch my book and it is a dream come true to see it printed and available for people to read.

She said recent research has shown that in most organ transplant cases there is a change in personality, and often the change is in personality and reminiscent of the organ donor.
This is the main theme in the book.

Goven answered some questions, gave a reading of a portion of the book, and signed copies before everyone enjoyed delicious food and champagne.
