Spokesperson of the Randburg Police Station urges women to be vigilant

Captain Makgowanyana Maja of the Randburg Police Station warns individuals to always be alert when going out with friends to avoid any kind of trouble.

Officials from the Randburg Police Station were informed of two sexual assaults which occurred around the Randburg area.

According to the spokesperson of the Randburg Police Station, Captain Makgowanyana Maja, on September 25 a woman was lured outside by an individual who was in an establishment selling alcohol at Selkirk Street. In a secluded area, the individual proceeded to sexually assault the victim.

The second case occurred in Ferndale where a woman woke up to find herself being sexually assaulted by an individual.

Both suspects will appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.

“We are pleading with everyone especially women to go out in groups when going out for drinks. Please, under no circumstances, leave your drinks alone with strangers when going to the restrooms. Criminals are opportunists and they will do whatever it takes to take advantage of anyone. Always be aware of your surroundings,” concluded Maja.
