Linden Police Station share their latest reported arrests

Linden Police encourage the public to continue to report on all crimes within their communities.

With the release of the national crime statistics on August 19 for the first quarter of 2022/20223, Linden Police Station shared the station’s accomplishments.

“For crime dealing with theft, the Linden police had made 229 arrests for August and 86 arrests in September,” said communication officer Sergeant Takalani Sibiya.

Meanwhile at a Linden Community Policing Forum meeting, Station Commander Colonel Shaid Abdool shared some crime trends in the precinct. He said the problematic days were Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. He added crimes occurred mainly between 09:00 and 12:00 and 15:00 and midnight.“We choose at Linden to be optimistic, we choose to step up for the greater good of the community,” said Abdool.

Sibiya encouraged the public to continue to report all crimes to their nearest police station sooner rather than later. He said 107 arrests were made for these specific crimes in August:

  • Possession of drugs
  • Contravention of the Second-Hand Goods Act
  • Theft of motor vehicles
  • Contravention of the Immigration Act
  • Drunk and driving
  • Assault grievously bodily harm (GBH)
  • Possession of housebreaking implements
  • Rape
  • Burglary of a business
  • Common assault under the Domestic Violence Act
  • Undocumented person
  • Dealing in mandarax
  • Possession of a dangerous weapon
  • Culpable homicide
  • Common robbery
  • Fraud
  • Reckless and negligent driving
  • Crimen injuria
  • Possession of a firearm.
