Old Parks gears up for exciting cricket season

The club plays in the Premier A League – the toughest cricket league in Joburg.

Cricketers can look forward to the upcoming season at Old Parktonian Sports Club.

“Players aged six to 66 are welcome and we are always looking for new people,” said chairperson of cricket at Old Parks, Doug Neilson.

“Our new head coach Gareth Flusk is doing lots of exciting things and we’ve had our cricket nets redone. We’re a friendly club and boys and girls are welcome to play.”

Registration for the new season will be between 08:30–11:30 on September 10, with the first practice for juniors happening at 08:30 on September 24.

Last season, the club finished sixth in the Premier A League – the toughest league in Joburg.

But joining the club means more than just access to cricket coaching and matches, there is also netball, basketball, full-field soccer, 5-a-side soccer, bowls, hockey, cycling, running and more.

“Tipu Café is open seven days a week and there is always something going on at the bar. There is live music on Friday evenings and lots of corporates use the facilities for their events.”

Otherwise, come to the registration day, Neilson said, and ask in person.
