Rand Park High School announces this year’s Mr and Miss Rand Park winners
School hosts annual beauty pageant with a Disney theme, that came with casual and formal-wear too.
A Disney theme, bright lights, new experiences, friendships and raising funds for this year’s matric dance were all part of this year’s Mr and Miss Rand Park pageant.
The event was hosted by the Matric Dance Committee at Rand Park High School on August 13 and saw 35 Grade 11 and 12 learners enter.
The contestants had spent the past two weeks together practising and learning how to walk the ramp.
Some of the contestants were reluctant participants initially and had to be persuaded to get involved because it was something that they have never done before. But once they were on stage and facing an audience that was encouraging and appreciative of their hard work, all their inhibitions appeared to fade away.
Each contestant took to the stage in a Disney-themed outfit of their choice as well as casual and formal wear.
The top 10 were asked to respond to questions on current global issues as part of the final assessment.
“A special thank you to the pageant sponsors as well as the judges who were involved with this year’s pageant judging, Merlene Spies of Figures Talent International; Gavaughn Brandt of Royalty ZA Pageants; and pageant winner and model Charlotte van Wyk,” said the school’s marketing and communications officer Heather Robinson.
Each participant was required to source a pageant sponsor to raise funds for the matric dance. The proceeds of the ticket sales will also be used for the dance.

Second runners-up: Michaela Adolphe and Robert Graham
Miss Personality: Tannah Bester
Mr Personality: Caden Jacobs
Miss Photogenic: Jada Mathele
Mr Photogenic: Samuel van Rensburg
Best Outfit: Robert Graham
