Randburg SPCA rescues the lives of the innocent

The Randburg SPCA warns the public against purchasing pets on the side of the road.

The Randburg SPCA had followed a lead about the trade of puppies in exchange for money on the side of the road on July 11.

Inspectors Theo Mahube and Bradley Hughes went out, searched and found the puppies being sold at the traffic lights.

Cynthia Swanepoel from the Randburg SPCA said they were grateful they could confiscate the puppies and bring them to safety.
They are fed well, tucked into warm beds and in due course they would be ready for adoption.

The Randburg SPCA is appealing to the community to kindly report similar cases so that the organisation can respond timely.

The public is also urged to stop supporting vendors that sell animals on the street as they may think that they are saving an animal’s life but sadly, it just perpetuates the cycle of supply and demand. Buyers may think that they are saving the puppy’s life when they are just condemning the next.

The Randburg SPCA staff thanks the community for reporting these cases and are grateful for their inspectors’ acts.
