80 blankets for homeless animals
Homeless animals receive a donation of 80 blankets and food from Fernridge Vet Clinic.
The Covid-19 outbreak not only had an impact on people’s daily lives but also on animals that were rendered homeless.
With the aid of Fernridge Vet Clinic and animal lovers, more than 80 blankets and food contributions were collected for the Animal Anti-Cruelty League which takes in stray animals.
Lyndie Nott of Fernridge Vet Clinic said, “There are just so many animals that don’t have homes at the moment and desperately need to be kept warm in the winter because people cannot afford them anymore because of the outbreak of Covid-19… as a result, they have lost their homes and are unable to keep [pets] anymore.”
A big thank you to everyone who has participated in this initiative, she added.
Carren Nickloes, the marketing manager for the Johannesburg Animal Anti-Cruelty League, was appreciative of the community’s kindness toward stray animals.
“This is absolutely amazing as we have about 300 animals on-site and these are homeless stray animals looking for new homes. And when the community gets together and they do something like this, it really is very special because it means the community is thinking about the animals within the community that have no homes,” said Nickloes.
“One of our needs the community can assist with is donating warm blankets…. tin food, cat food, or dog food would be of help. Anyone can donate at the clinic.”
