Randburg Art Society chairperson conveys tranquillity in paintings of nature

The chairperson of the Randburg Art Society wants to share the peace she feels in nature, with others.

It’s all about beautiful scenery, open skies and the tranquillity of nature, for Teresa New.

New has been painting since 1982 and is the current chairperson of Randburg Art Society.

“I started painting with acrylics and then did oils only and then colour only. Now I am trying to get back into both,” she told Randburg Sun at Delta Café & Don Quixote, where the society has met since the Blairgowrie Recreation Centre was closed for maintenance last year.

“I like landscapes and skies. I love the beauty and movement of the clouds. Nature is what inspires me.”

She said a good artist knew how to express his or herself on paper.

“For me, I do my best to bring peace and tranquillity to my work. I show the tranquillity I feel in nature, on paper.”
