Pikitup warns that scammers prey on unemployed persons

Pikitup makes a statement against job seekers.

Pikitup is warning residents of a new scam.

Following a statement from Pikitup spokesperson, Muzi Mkhwanazi, Pikitup has discovered a fraudulent scheme directed at scamming desperate, unemployed people of large sums of money leading to false promises of employment with the company.

Pikitup claims that it had published a number of posts that had been strictly open to employees of their company. “A number of job seekers have also visited Pikitup offices to ascertain whether it was acceptable to pay between R1 000 and R5 000 for those positions,” said Mkhwanazi.
Victims of this crime have been warned not to pay anyone for these jobs and to notify the authorities of any cybercrimes.

Pikitup has advised new applicants to consult their website, the City of Johannesburg’s website and newspapers for job opportunities.
