Tom Sundawo keeps an optimistic attitude

Though confined to a wheelchair since he was shot in the head in 2007, Tom Sundawo focusses on the good things in life.

Life changed forever for Tom Sundawo after he was shot in the head execution-style.

It was back in 2007, just before his 25th birthday.

Sundawo was working as a manager at a restaurant in Auckland Park when he was shot point-blank during an armed robbery.

This left him without the ability to walk or use his right hand.

Confined to a wheelchair since then, Sundawo now works as a quality controller for M-Sure, for whom he listens to call recordings.

This helps cover his accommodation and care at Ann Harding Cheshire Home, but it is not enough and every year a soccer fundraiser is held at Old Parktonian Sports Club for him.

Though he never played soccer much due to his asthma, Sundawo loves to see other people enjoying themselves for a good cause.

In fact, he maintains a positive attitude as much as he can.

“I am excited to see people play soccer and be happy because that makes me happy,” he said with a smile.

“It is good to focus on the good things in life.”

When not working or visiting people, Sundawo enjoys watching The Good Doctor and various court series.

“I am a Jehovah’s Witness and I love preaching to people too.”

The next soccer fundraiser will be held on April 27. To find out more or to sign up, contact Fast Sports Fusion on 082 442 3131 or 061 493 8327, or Jackie Kyle of Ann Harding Cheshire Home on 011 792 3510.
