Harriers hosts own grand prix series

PRAEGVILLE – The Easter 100 and Vitality Run will also be a blast this year.

Runners can expect the Vitality Run Series, time trial grand prix, and Easter 100 (perhaps with a different name this time) to be great fun at Randburg Harriers this year.

Along with the iconic Valentine’s Race, these two events are a highlight at the running club based at Randburg Sports Complex in Praegville.

“We usually do the Easter 100 as a warm-up for the Comrades Marathon but that is now in August so we may decide to move that. People can stay tuned to our website and social media pages for info,” said Harriers chairperson, Jacob Shayi.

The Easter 100 is a traditionally series of runs on a weekend before the Comrades, adding up to 100km.

“Many runners in the area are preparing for Comrades and we will definitely cater for them one way or another. At the moment our time trials and club runs are becoming more and more popular.”

The club is currently hosting its grand prix series through the time trials, with points awarded for results and prizes that will be given to winners in categories come the end of the series.

“The time trials and grand prix series are run on Thursdays at 17:45 and we have 5km and 8km runs. The club runs are on Saturdays and Sundays at 05:30 and they are also a flagship for us.”
