mesMaraai Film scoops awards

LINDEN – A film which was produced by learners scopes nine awards at the recent DIFA Awards ceremony.

A short film produced by Hoërskool Linden’s Davinci International Film Academy (DIFA) last year, mesMaraai, recently received nine awards at the DIFA awards.

The film produced by the school’s academy, made its debut last year in October at the school’s ‘Under the Stars’ arts showcase, and was wonderfully received by the audience. Not only was the film a top quality production, but it also provided great entertainment, fantastic acting and plenty of good laughs.

From cast to production, this fantastic short film was produced by the learners themselves under the leadership of their teacher Nina Janse van Rensburg.
It was recently awarded nine awards at the DIFA awards evening.

These awards included a first place in the Comedy Genre, first places for Continuity, Wardrobe, Hair, Makeup, Art department, Lighting, and the award for Best Assistant Director. The film was also awarded the People’s Choice Award.
The production also placed second in the categories of Best Male Actor – Ross Duffus; Best Female Actress – Chanté Brand and Best Script. Overall the film placed as the runner-up in the Short Film 2021 category.

“Hoërskool Linden’s film academy learners have lots of talent when it comes to film making, and both the school and our community look forward to seeing what they are yet to accomplish in the South African Film Industry,” said the Ané Groenewald.
