DA party agent allegedly hit by ANC-branded vehicle outside voting station

NORTHCLIFF – ANC ward councillor candidate urges people to respect each other after DA party agent claims to have been hit by ANC vehicle.

DA party agent, Carla Hudson claims to have been hit by an ANC-branded car driven by a man wearing an ANC shirt outside a voting station in Northcliff.

Some onlookers rushed to help her while ANC party agents apparently laughed at the incident outside Northcliff Primary School at 13:30 today, November 1.

“There were voters queueing in the service road in front of the school and I was out there helping them and stopping cars, when the driver revved his car and drove into me,” Hudson told Caxton Local media.

“I fell forward onto the bonnet and bruised my legs but it was better than falling backwards because then he would have driven over me. I am livid because all I wanted was a sorry but the driver had nothing to say afterwards. The police across the road said they couldn’t help me because they didn’t see the incident.”

The voting station’s presiding officer also apparently could not intervene.

ANC Ward 98 councillor candidate, Tebogo Tshakane said he was unaware of the incident but would go to the scene and find out what happened.

“There has been a lot of people from different parties provoking each other today, so this may not be the whole story,” he said. “I would encourage people in politics not to provoke each other. Let’s stay safe and respect each other.”

ANC spokesperson for Joburg, Sasabona Maganye said he was not aware of the incident but would find out the registration of the vehicle and take the matter further from there. He did however confirm that the vehicle involved was not an official ANC vehicle. “This is not an ANC official car. It is a private individual who might be the ANC supporter. I will investigate the matter to ascertain who the driver is, however it will be good that the Party agent in question report this matter to authorities so that it may be attended to.

“The ANC will definitely act if the driver is an ANC member if it is found that this was done on purpose,” he said.

Current Ward 98 councillor, Beverley Jacobs alleged that there had been incidents of ANC and EFF party agents dragging voters away from DA tables at Mini Minors Pre-School and Aftercare in Randpark Ridge, and hassling voters in Windsor East.
