Elaine and her bears

BLAIRGOWRIE – Resident counts it a joy making teddies and teaching others how to do so.

One of the regular contributors to the Teddy Bear Foundation is the delightful and always-optimistic Elaine van der Heever.

The Blairgowrie resident counts it a joy to make teddy bears for children who are dealing with trauma.

“My grandchildren were involved in a car accident, and Teddy Bear Foundation had already provided them support and teddy bears by the time I reached them,” said Van der Heever with a broad smile.

“It is good to support Teddy Bear Foundation so we can ensure every child in need can receive assistance.”

She spoke to Randburg Sun after she had just organised half of the collection of teddies at a recent Teddy Bear Foundation effort in Ferndale.

There, she was surrounded by scores of all manner of plush animals and teddies, each one looking beautiful and feeling so soft.

Van der Heever runs her own company, Elaine’s Bears, which sees her handmaking teddies, repairing and cleaning teddies and plush toys, providing lessons on how to make teddies, and running specific project courses.

One could say her life revolves around these furry friends, which might explain why the woman is always smiling.
