One child killed, three injured in Kya Sand accident

A child has died and three others were injured following an accident on a notorious Kya Sand road.

One child has been killed, and three others injured when a light motor vehicle rolled off Agnes Avenue in Kya Sand,  and struck the children on the side of the road on 13 May.

According to ER24’s Russel Meiring, ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene at 12.40pm to find the vehicle upright on the side of the road.

Four children were found lying a short distance away from the car. Medics quickly assessed the children, aged between 6 and 14, and found that they were in a critical condition, having sustained numerous injuries.

Medics immediately treated the children and provided them with several advanced life support interventions.

Unfortunately, one of the children succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead. The remaining three children were transported to a nearby hospital for further care.

It is understood that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll and collide with the children. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

In June 2018, a police car was involved in an accident on the same road, which resulted in the deaths of four pedestrians. Read more here: MUST READ: Police van kills 4 in Kya Sand
