All the sizzle and the steak

Here is a barbeque fillet steak recipe that will make your mouth water.

Make your kitchen smell like a Michelin-grade kitchen this January as you prepare this sultry barbeque fillet steak medallion drizzled with mustard sauce.

This is sure to be a meat lover’s fan favourite. HTA School of Culinary Art thinks you will love this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Four 180g portions of fillet steak
  • 100ml barbeque sauce
  • 100ml tomato sauce
  • 30ml vegetable oil
  • One broccoli head, broken into florets
  • Three chopped garlic cloves
  • 10ml salt
  • 5ml ground black pepper
  • Four potatoes

Mustard sauce:

  • 250ml cream
  • 100ml mustard
  • Salt and pepper

Method

1. Get the braai ready to cook on.

2. Place the steak into a casserole dish.

3. Mix barbeque sauce and tomato sauce together and generously bush steak with the mixture. Set aside.

4. Heat a grill pan and add the broccoli (the grill pan gives the vegetables a delicious smoky flavour) two minutes before you finish grilling them add the garlic and seasoning. The vegetables can be cooked on the braai for an extra easy meal.

5. Braai the meat, basting constantly until cooked to your likeness.

6. Heat oil, cut potatoes into wedges and then fry.

7. To make the sauce, pour the cream into a saucepan and add mustard, bring to boil and simmer for six to seven minutes until it thickens, then slightly season well and serve.

8. Serve the fillet with broccoli, potato wedges and the mustard sauce.
