Douglasdale police lead safety patrol along Jukskei River

JUKSKEI – Douglasdale police joined hands with the Community Police Forum, various security companies and community members to patrol along the Jukskei River.

The exercise was to survey the area along the river for suspicious activity as well as identify the potential for criminal activity regarding homes in the area.

Participants arrived at Douglasdale Police Station, were briefed by Captain Leonard Celliers and then made their way to Jacaranda Street in Olivedale. The operation took place along the Jukskei greenbelt opposite the Amsterdam complex, a five-minute drive from All Saints shopping centre. Participants walked along the river until they reached the Caltex garage alongside Jukskei Park.

“This sector, Sector 1 has experienced a couple of housebreakings and house robberies. So we’re going to go through the riverside to identify places where people can possibly come in, possible hideouts, anything strange that we can see, we report it,”
