Oooth asks ‘Who Cares What You Think?’

The album Who Cares What You Think is set to release later in 2020.

Randpark rocker Jason Oosthuizen and his band Oooth have released their first official single and music video for the band’s acoustic album, and it takes its inspiration from the current state of the country.

The album is in a more acoustic style that is slightly different to Oooth’s debut album Who Cares What You Think’s heavier sound that was originally released in 2018. Oosthuizen said while writing new music for Oooth, he also took some time playing around with the current songs on acoustic guitar and it started sounding so great, he thought why not bring out an acoustic version of their first album.

The single, Grateful was written in Los Angeles while Oosthuizen was living there a few years back. The song was inspired by the state of South Africa many years ago and how his perception of the country had changed while living in the United States.

“This song is more about myself, so many years back, sitting in America thinking ‘would it be so bad to leave SA and everything behind to rather move to another country?’

“In a way, I would say yes, the song does address this thought as this is something lingering on a lot of South African’s minds. I know of at least 50 plus people wanting to leave now. So since seven years ago already, this was something on my mind and it is just becoming a stronger feeling,” said Oosthuizen.

He added that South Africa would always be his home, but for many years now the state that we found our country in was concerning moving forward. Crime and the seeming lack of prevention of it was the biggest concern for him.

The video for Grateful, which showcases Oosthuizen on acoustic guitar at his Fontainebleau home, was shot by PJ Van Zijl Photography and features many shots from the band performing on stage.
