Repairs to burst Randpark pipe currently under way

RANDPARK RIDGE – Water tankers that were placed at the petrol station located at President Fouché Drive, Karee Street and Malope Road would remain there until repair work has been completed.

For some time now, Boskruin and Randpark Ridge residents have been suffering from low water pressure, and this was due to a burst pipe on the corner of Appelblaar Avenue and Ysterhout Drive.”

The burst was temporarily repaired in order to provide the homes of Randpark and Boskruin with a flowing stream of freshwater until a more permanent solution could be brought forward,” said Ward 134 councillor Wendy Alexander. She has confirmed that a solution for the issue has been found and the pipe is in the full process of being repaired.”As Ysterhout Drive is incredibly busy, and for the convenience of residents, all construction work will be taking place in the evenings. The contractor has sourced all materials needed to complete the job,” said Alexander.

Areas that have been affected are those served by the Randpark water reservoir. She said that the majority of residents should now have access to water in their taps, albeit at low pressure.”As this is a very deep excavation, I will be working closely with the Johannesburg Roads Agency to ensure that the road is reinstated as soon as possible,” she said. There is not an expected time of completion for the repair so full service can resume, and Alexander has encouraged residents to remain patient.

Water tankers that have been placed at the petrol station located at President Fouché Drive, Karee Street and Malope Road will remain there until repair work has been completed.”I would like to thank our community for their patience during this time.

On 1 July, it was confirmed that the Joburg Water Randburg depot had been closed due to positive cases of Covid-19. Since then, there has been a team assisting from the Midrand depot, but turnaround times have been longer on bursts and leaks,” she concluded.
