OLIVEDALE – Gauteng Police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubela confirmed on 16 June that an Olivedale youngster was shot by armed suspects while walking his dogs.

Gauteng Police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubela confirmed on 16 June that an Olivedale youngster was shot by armed suspects while walking his dogs during the late afternoon of 15 June.

Makhubela said that the 17-year-old was walking along Benjamin Avenue when a white Kia Picanto abruptly stopped near him.

He said that two armed suspects jumped out of their vehicle and demanded the victim’s cell phone.

One suspect opened fire, hitting the victim in his lower body.

The victim was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition to receive treatment for his wounds.

The police are appealing to the community to be on the lookout for the white Kia Picanto with the registration number WFV 463 GP, but warned that if the community sees the vehicle, they should not approach or confront the suspects as they are armed and dangerous.
