Nosh Food Rescue urges residents to think sustainability

RANDBURG – Nosh Food Rescue founder Hanneke van Linge is all about sustainability despite adversity.

Hanneke van Linge of non-profit company Nosh Food Rescue urged citizens to remember that now is the most important time to practise sustainability. Van Linge is passionate about food security and zero-food waste which has been a goal she has worked towards consistently.

“This is a crucial time to recalibrate and to re-think our habits as consumers as a whole. The current patterns of excessive consumption are ruinous for the environment and for our well-being as human beings, so let’s not waste a good crisis and come out of this stronger and wiser! Of course, I have the time, luxury and leisure to indulge in self-inspection, I understand that for a large majority of our population, this is not the case, so I feel those who know better should share that knowing!”

Community members are encouraged to dedicate some of their additional time this lockdown to consider how they can live their lives more sustainably.

Nosh has broadened their reach significantly and begun operations, on a small scale, in two other provinces. Van Linge asserted that as their resources permit, community members will see a lot more collection teams and all sorts of innovative food-surplus-related projects.
