People4Purpose is here to serve

RANDBURG – A local resident puts the work she has done with her NGO on ice.

Landy Yeatman has lived in the dynamic suburb Randburg for over four decades.

When Yeatman fell on hard times with a breast cancer diagnosis, the survivor committed herself to community engagement. Since her first interview with the Randburg Sun, Yeatman has formalised her passion and registered the non-governmental organisation ‘People4Purpose’.

The director and founder of the NGO has collaborated with two of her colleagues who she thanked for being instrumental in the work she has done thus far. Yeatman was no stranger to community engagement, as she has long helped people who expressed their grievances on the ‘I Love Randburg’ Facebook Page. Yeatman is an admin on the page and used the pervasive power of social media to make a positive impact.

Yeatman expressed that her NGO will make things easier for her, as many people are more comfortable with formalised organisations. “I will continue to do the work that I have done… I’m starting off small but doing the best that I can.”

The most recent project she completed was a maize meal drive. People4Purpose collected half a ton of maize which was donated to the local community and shared with other local non-governmental organisations.

Her project where she has collected baby supplies has been put on hold. Her supplies have been stored at her workplace in what has been fondly referred to as the ‘baby room’ by herself and her colleagues. She will continue her work in the Randburg community once the country has recovered from Covid-19.

You can reach Yeatman through her Facebook Page People4Purpose.
