Ferndale Residents Association hosts pizza party for a cause

FERNDALE – The Ferndale Residents Association hosted a pizza party to raise funds for the upkeep of the Ferndale spruit.

The Ferndale Residents Association recently organised a pizza party to fund the maintenance of the Ferndale Spruit. Residents dug into the pizzas for a cause at the event hosted in Chris and Marlene Neaves’s beautiful garden. The residents association received sponsorship from Panarottis – which they felt is the best pizza place in Ferndale. Attendees were charged R50 on arrival and monies raised contributed towards the upkeep of the spruit.

The proceeds from the fun-filled event will help keep the spruit free of plastic, other pollutants and the grass cut – with the help of the municipality. The aim was to keep the spruit a beautiful green belt, free of displaced persons.

According to attendees, the pizzas were ‘delicious giant monster pizzas’. The 30 residents attending the pizza party were treated to a talk on indigenous trees by Malcom Hepplewhite – an expert on indigenous plants. Hepplewhite’s Witkoppen Wild Flower Nursery has moved to North Riding after 54 years in Broadacres.

Timo Schambreel also treated residents to a talk on time management. Schambreel’s presentation captivated attendees and was very informative.

All funds raised contributed to the Ferndale Spruit fund.
