The school, based in North Riding, enthusiastically took up the challenge. Every learner and teacher in the school promoted the importance of reading. The morning was an incredible experience which celebrated reading, relaxing and reconnecting with each other. Grade 10 learner Emmanuel Wambua said, “Before World Read Aloud Day, it was just another day, the 5th of February. But today two 5th graders changed it for me. They gave me a sweet perspective of reading that I never expected. I can laugh while I read.”

Last year World Read Aloud day was one of the top trends on social media, where international celebrities engaged with the topic and showcased how they read and what literacy meant to them.
