Ready, set, read – Grade 1 learners in Randburg are ready to learn

RANDBURG – Grade one learners all over Randburg are school ready and eager to learn.


The first day of school saw many eager Grade 1 learners make a beeline for the classroom. The new additions to primary schools countrywide were excited to make their mark and begin the journey which has been marked by new school uniform, packed lunches and new friends.

Sharonlea Primary School learners were eager to line up behind their class leaders. The myriad of gleaming faces eagerly listened to the instruction of their teacher. The new additions to the primary school were very calm and prepared to learn.

In Fontainebleau, learners at Laerskool Unika were a similar scene. Members of Corlia Meyer’s class calmly ate their packed lunches barefoot, while seated at their desks. Meyer mentioned that a lot of the little ones were in the school’s pre-primary school the year before which prepared them for the first year of ‘big school’.

Dalena Blitenthall spoke to the admission process at Laerskool Unika, where there were no walk-ins and all applications were done ahead of time. “This was something we were worried about but there was no problem at all!”

The bundles of joy were happy to be at school across the board, were receptive to instructions and eager to learn.
