Rand Park matrics show off their results

RANDPARK – The 2019 Rand Park High School matric class collected their much-anticipated results on 8 January.


The 2019 Rand Park High School matric class made their way to their school to collect their much-anticipated matric results on 8 January.

The school achieved very pleasing results with a pass rate of 98.4 per cent and 77 per cent of the candidates achieving a bachelor pass.

The school’s principal Alan Wilke congratulated the Class of 2019 on their success and thanked them for their many and varied contributions to Rand Park High. “I would like to congratulate all of our learners for their amazing hard work and dedication. A big congratulations have to go to our top achievers, in particular, Connor Houston who achieved an outstanding average of 90.43 per cent as well as Kyla Swart, Sabrina Goncalves and Joshua Lerm who achieved a full-house of distinctions,” said Wilke.

Connor’s top results were 99 per cent for information technology, 98 per cent for physical science; 97 per cent for mathematics, 94 per cent for accounting, 88 per cent for advanced programme mathematics. He will be studying actuarial science at Wits University this year.

Kyla Swart achieved an average of 88.14 per cent, with her highest mark being 99 per cent for visual art. She also achieved the Maximo Cum Honore Alan Burgess Award, offered by the school for academic and performing arts honours. Kyla plans to study performing arts and theatre-making at the University of Cape Town in 2021. This year she is taking a gap year to gain hands-on experience in choreography and backstage skills by assisting with Rand Park High School’s major production.

Both Sabrina Goncalves and Joshua Lerm were ecstatic with their results saying that it was hard work and dedication throughout the year that paid off.

Joshua said, “It has been a difficult year, and we all put in a lot of work. This includes not only our teachers and parents, but our peers around us, we were all amazing together and supported each other, and I hope this continues in the future, we are all really blessed.”

Sabrina will be studying a BSc Genetics Psychology and Physiology at the University of Pretoria, and Joshua will be studying BPharm at Wits University.
